Juvenile law

Assistance in proceedings involving minors, both civil — protecting children and their relationships with their parents — and criminal, when a minor is under investigation or charged, or is the victim of a crime.

Civil juvenile law

  • Parental responsibility: proceedings to limit, suspend or remove it, and applications for reinstatement.
  • Child protection orders in situations of harm, including urgent ones, and dealings with social services.
  • Custody and placement, including with relatives or third parties, and arrangements for contact with parents and grandparents.
  • Adoption and foster care.
  • Guardian and special guardian of minors: assistance in proceedings to appoint a guardian (tutore) or special guardian (curatore speciale) for a child, and acting in those roles.
  • Hearing the child and assistance in proceedings where a special guardian is appointed.

Criminal juvenile law

  • Defence of minors under investigation or charged at every stage before the juvenile courts.
  • Suspension of proceedings with probation for minors, with an educational plan agreed with social services.
  • Minor nature of the offence and judicial pardon, specific to juvenile criminal proceedings.
  • Minors who are victims of crime: assistance to the child and family, including protected interviews.

Particular care

When children are involved, every decision must take account of their interests and wellbeing. We work sensitively, explaining every step to parents and family and, where needed, working with social services and child development professionals.
